Citizens for Community Values Supports House Bill 228
Statement of Barry Sheets

Citizens for Community Values
January 18, 2006
In support of House Bill 228
Citizens for Community Values, officially associated with Focus on the Family as their Ohio Family Policy Council, stands in suport of legislation authored by Representative Tom Brinkman of the 34th Ohio House District which would bring full protections to all Ohio citizens, both born and preborn.
Every preborn child, from fertilization on, is a human being who is entitled to both social and legal protection. House Bill 228, which would put Ohio on record as a state where innocent life is valued and protected, is legislation whose time is come.
House Bill 228 would correct Ohio law to create an atmosphere in our state where life is treated with respect. Provisions in the legislation would protect the life of the mother should that life be in danger and all available medical efforts cannot save both mother and child. Ohio would become a state that would, in effect, re-enfranchise Ohio's youngest and most vulnerable citizens, and protect life.
We are encouraged that House Bill 228 has been supported by a significant number of members of the General Assembly, and that House leadership has assigned the legislation to the House Health Committee, where hearings can be undertaken.
Citizens for Community Values is a grassroots orhanization of citizens who are concerned for the well-being of the community, the strength of its families, and the future of its children. We believe House Bill 228 is legislation that is concerned about the future of all of the children of the state of Ohio, and we encourage passage of this bill during the 126th General Assembly.
